Cua Hoi Bridge – Nghe An

The investment project to build Cua Hoi bridge across the Lam River in the provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh was approved for investment by the Ministry of Transport in Decision 1664 dated August 6, 2018. The project has a total investment of 950 billion VND. Including: 450 billion VND of Government bond capital, 250 billion VND of Nghe An province budget capital and 250 billion VND of Ha Tinh province budget capital.
The total length of the project is 5,271km, the starting point at Km0 00 connects to provincial road 535 and the planning road of Cua Lo town in Nghi Hai ward, Cua Lo town (Nghe An province), the end point of the project matches connecting the coastal road implemented by Ha Tinh province, about 200m from the intersection with National Highway 8B, in Xuan Truong commune, Nghi Xuan district (Ha Tinh province).
The main bridge of Cua Hoi is 1,728km long, the main bridge width is 18.5m and the approach bridge width is 16m. The navigational clearance is suitable for ships with a tonnage of up to 2,000 DWT, the navigational clearance is 120m x 20.5m, specifically the range from the center of the channel to each side is 40m with a clearance height of 24.5m. The road part of the project is designed according to level 3 plain road standards, the roadbed is 12m wide, the road surface is 11m, including two motor vehicle lanes and two mixed vehicle lanes, design speed of 80km/h.
The project has been under construction since February 2019 and basically completed by the end of 2020. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Ministry of Transport directed Project Management Board 6 and construction contractors to complete the structural layer. The road section is being treated for soft ground to ensure smoothness and safety for people and vehicles when participating in traffic during the temporary exploitation period from February 6. Maximum traffic speed is 50km/h.
